Seminar ‘Ziekenhuizen op weg naar energieneutraal!’
’Our SES-BE partner Royal HaskoningDHV held together with TVVL and Eindhoven University of Technology a successful seminar about Hospital Buildings moving towards zero energy. Congratulations!
Wim Maassen of Royal HaskoningDHV, who is also a TU/e Fellow and actively involved in the SES-BE program, see [link to CV on SES-BE website see below], organized this seminar. The seminar is a result of the project to develop an ASHRAE-REHVA Guidebook Towards Zero Energy Hospital Buildings, which he initiated and leads. For more information about the seminar see the TVVL website. At the seminar the SES-BE program was brought under attention and posters of related SES-BE research were presented by PhD Candidate Shalika Walker and Master student Aleksandra Zarzycka.
We are very happy with the opening words by one of our leading partners in the NWO TTW SES-BE program Marije Hulshof, Business Line Director Industry and Buildings of Royal Haskoning DHV, These words illustrate the relevance and great value of research programs such as SES-BE executed by the TU/e together with other knowledge institutes, market parties and stakeholder organizations, see below.
Opening words of Marije Hulshof:
‘Dear people,
On behalf of Royal HaskoningDHV, Eindhoven University of Technology and TVVL I would like to welcome you to this Seminar: ‘’Towards Energy Neutral hospital Buildings”.
When you look at the participants list you will see that we have around 130 participants from different organizations hospital organizations, knowledge institutes, consultancy firms, contracters and product developers covering a large part of the chain.
Again welcome to you !
Great that we can use this beautiful location at Erasmus MC. Margot Bleeker (Fundraising Director at Erasmus MC Foundation) thanks for this.
The EMC is a hospital where we, as RHDHV, have also been involved for eight years in the construction of the new building that has recently been completed. We have carried out the design of all technical installations of the hospital, program management and technical supervision.
We are proud of the result and we are pleased that the Erasmus MC is also winning great prizes here, such as the concrete prize in 2013 and the recently won Rooftop Award.
To help hospitals to take steps in the energy transition, we must work together, research and development and, of course, sharing knowledge and experiences is necessary.
Examples of how we are doing this are the collaboration between RHDHV and TU/e with hospitals (eg VUmc and UMCU) and the initiative to develop the ASHRAE-REHVA guidebook Toward Zero Energy Hospital Buildings.
To develop the Guidebook we work together with TU/e and other co-authors of Netherlands Buildings Services Association TVVL, European Federation REHVA (EU) and ASHRAE.
We want to tell you more about the research and the guidebook, involve you and are glad that we can do this today together with some co-authors of the Guidebook from United States of America and UK …. Travis English, Maya Salabasheva and Frank Mills, Welcome!
Hospitals are special buildings in which specialist and life-saving operations are carried out.
An environment where 24/7 patient and medical performance are central. Here the primary process is explicitly in the first place and not energy saving and CO2 emission reduction.
However, this does not detract from the fact that there are many possibilities and opportunities to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions in a safe and responsible way.
To support this well and to make it available to hospitals, this collaboration with knowledge institutions and professionals worldwide is essential to accelerate the energy transition.
After all, the Energy Transition is nowadays really on the agenda of many hospitals and logically this leads to many questions: where do I start, which ambition is feasible, what is smart to do and how do I get safe and responsible measures within my organization and applied?
That is why Royal HaskoningDHV invests in this knowledge development with the TU/e and international cooperation. We are happy to share this with you and get you involved!
Finally, I wish you a nice and especially interesting afternoon and I hope that you will go home with many new insights and ideas.’’
